2021 Nissan GTR Nismo vs. 2021 Toyota Supra

When it comes to racing-inspired driving, there are two cars you have probably had your eye on for a while now-the 2021 Nissan GTR Nismo and the 2021 Toyota Supra. These two beasts of the road have been tearing up the pavement around North Tampa like it's their job. But, of course, that's because these sports cars are built for power and performance. But which one of these massive horsepower marvels is the right one for you?

These legendary supercars are built with gut-wrenching acceleration, racing-inspired handling, and distinctive features. Plus, when you own either of these bad boys, you join a special kind of car rank no matter where you live. With so much performance and power at your fingertips, how can you decide between the two? That's exactly what we wanted to find out for ourselves with this head-to-head battle for king of the supercars.

Let's find out which one sets themselves apart from the pack.

2021 Nissan GTR Nismo vs. 2021 Toyota Supra

From the outside, these two cars are quite distinctive. There's no mistaking one from the other, and when you match them up spec for spec, horse for horse, that's where you can start to discover the weaknesses of one in particular. So today, we're going to take you through a comprehensive head-to-head fight to the death so that you can figure out which supercar is right for you. And when the 2021 Nissan GTR Nismo is established as king of the supercar, be sure to come down to our showroom at Maus Nissan of North Tampa to take one for a test drive!

Would the real supercar please stand up?!

Engine & Performance

If we're going to compare supercars, there's really only one place to start, and that's with raw, rip-roaring power. That's exactly what you get with the 2021 Nissan GTR Nismo, thanks to the all-wheel-drive, twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 with 600 horsepower. The Nismo truly is a 10-second car if ever there was one. Its quick steering, adjustable suspension, and rigid structure make the 2021 Nissan GTR Nismo the king of the pavement.

In comparison, the 2021 Toyota Supra only comes in rear-wheel drive with a 255-horsepower 2.0-liter twin-scroll single-turbo inline 4-cylinder engine. That's almost 400 fewer horses under the hood, which is pretty disappointing for a "super" car. Moreover, with a two-second slower 0-60 time, the 2021 Supra just doesn't hold up to the power and performance of the Nismo.

Infotainment & Connectivity

The Nismo comes with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay connectivity, built-in navigation, and a premium Bose audio system.

Inside the Supra, you'll find an 8.8-inch central display that's very similar to BMW's latest iDrive interface. With Apple CarPlay, built-in navigation, and a JBL audio system that's an optional and costly upgrade, the Supra may have a bigger infotainment display but lacks entertainment.

Interior & Comfort

Sit inside the Nismo, and you'll quickly discover the roomy and comfortable front seats. And once you look around, the nicely appointed interior features leather-and-suede-covered upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and more. With more room than you thought at first glance, the Nismo is not only fun to drive. It's comfortable.

However, the 2021 Toyota Supra interior is more driver-focused than anything else. If you're taller than a medium-sized human, you'll feel squished inside the Supra. The interior of the Supra looks more like the inside of a BMW Z4 than it does a Toyota. It's rather clunky, uncomfortable, and a cramped cabin than you would think for what you're paying.

Winner: Nissan GTR Nismo

Bottom Line

There's no mistaking which of these supercars isn't exactly super as advertised. The 2021 Nissan GTR Nismo clearly leaves the 2021 Toyota Supra in the dust, whether it's the quarter-mile or the Cannonball Run. Not that you should ever do either of those things, but you get our point.

Here's a quick recap of the ways the Nismo beats the Supra:

        More standard horsepower.

        Better handling and performance features.

        Better interior features.

        More leg and cargo room.

        Premium driving experience.
