Performance

Powered by your choice of one or two externally excited synchronous eight-pole motors, the 2023 Nissan Ariya comes with impressive performance capabilities. A front-wheel-drive option uses a single motor and comes with up to 238-horsepower. The dual-motor option gives you a power boost that reaches up to 389 horses and comes with Nissan's revolutionary e-4FORCE all-wheel-drive setup.

Now, for the 2022 Kia EV6, you can have an impressive amount of power and performance. However, there's a catch. It costs half a fortune to upgrade to the all-wheel-drive models with larger battery packs that can reach between 320 and 576-horsepower. But for the base model with rear-wheel drive and a much smaller battery, you'll only have 167 horses under the hood.

Winner: Ariya

Range

All of the available Ariya models come with an available 87.0 kWh battery pack. For the Venture model, Nissan has said you'll have a range of 300 miles on a single charge. With the Evolve and Premiere models, the range will be closer to 285 miles on a single charge. And finally, the more powerful AWD Ariya Platinum model comes with a single-charge range of 265 miles.

For the Kia EV6, you can choose from two battery sizes. The first is a 58.0-kWh standard battery with a range of 232 miles. The larger 77.4-kWh battery pack provides an EPA-rated single-charge range of 310 miles.

Winner: EV6

Interior

Inside the Ariya, you'll discover state-of-the-art technology and creature comforts everywhere you look. You'll quickly fall in love with a spacious, well-designed, and ultra-comfortable cabin that feels simple yet elegant. The Ariya comes with twin 12.3-inch display screens for instrumentation and infotainment that run together. Most of the physical switchgear you see is used for the audio and cruise functions and is actually integrated into the face of the steering wheel. Even the comfortable adult-friendly seating and legroom in the back will surprise you on the 2023 Nissan Ariya.

However, the interior of the EV6 is clunky and crowded and not as adult-friendly as you would hope. The infotainment system on the EV6 comes with a 12.0-inch touchscreen extending its 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster. However, you'll quickly be disappointed with the design and performance, and the navigation is unimpressive at best.

Winner: Ariya

Bottom Line?

When you look at the available options, performance, and interior features, there's only really one clear winner. However, there's no denying that the best crossover EV on the market is the 2023 Nissan Ariya. While both of these EVs offer impressive range and savings at the gas pump, if you're looking for better safety technology, handling, and overall dependability, the Ariya is redefining the EV market.

Here's a quick breakdown of some of the ways the Ariya overcame the EV6:

Better standard driver safety and assistance features.

Better standard performance and handling.

State of the art infotainment features.
