2022 Nissan Armada vs. 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe

If a heavy-duty SUV is what you're looking for, you're likely considering either the new Nissan Armada or Chevy Tahoe. Both are tough as nails, but you don't want to rush into a purchase that'll you'll have for many years to come. Take a step back and review this comparison guide by your friends at Maus Nissan of North Tampa!

2022 Nissan Armada vs 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe

Looking at the mechanical and powertrain specs, the Armada and the Tahoe are similar in many aspects. However, there's more to having a lovable SUV like comfort, practicality, and safety. If you factor in the whole picture, the new 2022 Nissan Armada has a lot more to admire.

Performance

In terms of performance, the 2022 Armada already comes strong with a direct-injection 5.6L Endurance V8 engine capable of 400 horsepower. That's enough to tow a maximum of 8,500 pounds! With a 7-speed transmission and Manual Shift mode with Downshift Rev Matching, you'll have no issues powering through any terrain no matter what you're hauling.

Chevrolet is proud to show off its 6.2L V8 engine with 420 horsepower, but if you dig into the finer details, you'll realize that you can only get that amount of power standard in the Tahoe's High-Country trim which starts at $74,395.  Otherwise, you'll have to settle for the 5.3L V8 engine at 355 horsepower. On the other hand, every Armada comes standard with a 400-horsepower engine with the lowest trim being at a more affordable $49,900. On top of that, the Tahoe can only haul up to 8,400 which is a hundred less than what the Armada is capable of.

Safety Features

Not only does the 2022 Nissan Armada come with the already-impressive Safety Shield 360 suite of abundant and useful safety features, but you can also enjoy a great selection of more intuitive intelligent features as well.

Safety Shield 360

Intelligent Driving-Assist Features

Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection

       Rear Automatic Braking

       Blind Spot Warning

       Rear Cross Traffic Alert

       Lane Departure Warning

       High Beam Assist

       Intelligent Rear View Mirror

       Intelligent Back-Up Intervention

       Intelligent Cruise Control

       Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention

       Intelligent Lane Intervention

       Intelligent Forward Collision Warning

       Intelligent Around View Monitor

On the other hand, the new Tahoe only comes standard with the most basic safety features which almost feels like they were added as an obligation. This includes Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, and Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist. When you really think about it, these features are to be expected of any new vehicle model anyway.

Interior

The interior is where the Armada's comfort factor really shines. Both the front and second rows have heated seats, with leather-appointed and quilted seating throughout the entire SUV which can fit up to 8 passengers. The second row is equipped with captain's chairs for a fun passenger experience. Tri-zone temperature control ensures that everyone stays comfortable no matter which seat they're in. As far as cargo space goes, the third row has a power-folding capability for a total of 95.4 cubic feet of storage as well as an additional under-floor storage area.

There's not much to boast about the Tahoe's interior other than a very traditional look if that's more your style. The woodgrain accents and the very ordinary dashboard are reminiscent of older vehicles from the mid-to-late nineties, but that format is for a very specific niche whereas most people looking for a new car would like something new and fresh.

Bottom Line

Unfortunately, the Tahoe is a bit lacking in both power and features with a boring interior look that doesn't really help its case. For an exciting drive with more features and fewer limitations, you can't go wrong with choosing the 2022 Nissan Armada. It's hard to beat a comfortable drive for everyone who's along for the ride topped with nearly every safety measure you can think of. This makes the Armada one that'll last you for generations.
