Between the 2024 Nissan Sentra and the 2024 Toyota Corolla, we’ve come to the thoughtful conclusion that the new Sentra is capable of giving you a safer and more comfortable experience. The sporty styling choices throughout the interior are also a nice treat for those who crave the performance lifestyle.
Performance
When evaluating the powertrain differences between the Sentra and Corolla, they each have their pros and cons. To start, the Sentra has a very average 2.0L engine at 149 horsepower which isn’t bad at all for your typical sedan. The mileage rating has yet to be revealed, but the 2023 Sentra offers 29 in-city and 39 highway miles per gallon which is also decent for its class. You can also get the full Nissan experience with sporty design elements such as an independent rear suspension, active grille shutters, and the exclusive Xtronic CVT system. Considering everything that you get, the Sentra easily stands above the average sedan. But can the same be said about the Corolla?
If we’re just comparing numbers, the new Corolla also has a 2.0L engine but with a little more horsepower at 169. It can also get up to 41 highway miles per gallon which is just a tad more than the Sentra, but every other aspect is lacking. It comes with a regular CVT system, minus the useful features that the Sentra offers like advanced suspension systems and active grille shutters.
Safety Features
All Sentra owners will have access to the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of safety and driver-assist features that come standard. So no matter which trims you choose, you will still be able to make use of the following features to give you priceless assistance on the road for safer driving everywhere you go:

The Corolla has similar interior features to the Sentra, but the list is cut short to just the heated front seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control (although it’s not automatic). Both cars have an 8-inch infotainment screen, but they differ in audio systems. The Corolla can support a JBL speaker system, but the Sentra can bring you the premium quality of Bose. Overall, we prefer the Sentra’s cabin over the Corolla’s any day.
Bottom Line
Many people will tell you that the Sentra and Corolla are practically the same. In a way, that’s kind of true. But if you really care about getting the best value, then the Sentra is the way to go. You get more safety features and a better interior layout decked with more tech and sporty elements that give it a unique look.
