Why is Nissan So Reliable?

Many Japanese car manufacturers are known for their ability to build some of the most dependable cars on the market, and Nissan is no exception.

Reliability Rankings

According to Repairpal.com, Nissan’s Reliability Rating is a solid 4.0 out of 5.0 and is ranked 9th out of 32 car brands. This rating is based on an average of reliability across 245 unique car models. This ranking makes Nissan more reliable than Subaru, which was ranked as #14, a brand that people often think of as most reliable.

Nissan’s vehicle reliability is illustrated by an average of 0.3 visits to a repair shop per year and a 13% probability of a repair being severe.

While some car manufacturers and brands tend to yo-yo dramatically up and down the rankings year on year, Nissan generally receives consistent reliability results.

Safety

Nissan cars are engineered to the highest of safety standards and come equipped with many advanced safety features such as:

  • Nissan Safety Shield 360
  • Forward-collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blindspot detection
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Lane departure warning
  • High beam assist
  • Advanced airbags
  • ProPilot Assist
  • And more!

Nissan vehicles also perform very well in crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NIHS) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and often earn top scores.

In particular, the Nissan Altima, Maxima, and Rogue have all performed art at the highest level in every crash test, and offer excellent all-around safety.

Nissan’s Most Reliable Vehicles

2021 Nissan Murano

Reliability and dependability are the Murano’s superpowers. J.D. Power named the Murano one of the best 2020 family SUVs because of its long-term quality and dependability. Like other Nissans in the lineup, it offers many of the latest safety and infotainment features.

Power is another one of the Nissan Murano’s selling points. All Murano’s come with a 260-hp 3.5-liter engine with a CVT transmission.

2021 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima has amazing overall reliability ratings, and its performance options aim to suit different drivers’ tastes.

The Altima’s base 188 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is perfect for everyday commuting, but if all-wheel drive is more your thing, you can upgrade to the SV trim. The Altima also offers a turbo engine that produces 248-hp on the upper-level trims. All engines in the Altima lineup come with a CVT.

2021 Nissan Maxima

The Maxima has the same V6 engine that the Murano has, but is tuned to generate 300-hp. The Maxima quickly accelerates and gets great gas mileage. The current model gets an above-average reliability rating based on its performance.

You Can Rely on Nissan

Nissan has come a long way since its humble beginnings back in the 1930s and is one of the biggest names in the auto industry today. From compact city cars to large off-road SUVs and trucks, and exhilarating sports cars, Nissan has a reliable car for just about anyone.
