Powertrain

For the 2022 model year, the Maxima is powered by the same powertrain that Nissan has equipped it with for the past few iterations—a 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 engine—also found in the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder.

The Maxima’s V6 delivers 300 hp at 6,400 rpm and 261 lb.-ft. of torque, which results in a high output of 85.7 hp per liter.

The power is sent to the Maxima’s front wheels via an Xtronic transmission with a manual shift mode, sport tuning, and D-Step shifting logic. The D-step shifting logic enables smoother acceleration while taking corner exits while Sport mode increases the engine’s throttle response and offers more aggressive shifting.

The Maxima’s suspension is just what you want in a sporty sedan with a setup that includes an independent subframe-mounted strut/coil in the front and an independent multi-link double-wishbone in the rear. This rear damper design with a monotube is usually only found on high-performance vehicles.

Same Bold Exterior; New Premium Color

The 2022 Maxima looks the same as the 2021 model with a low streamlined body with the same aggressive fascia and V-motion flow. It also comes with standard LED headlights and Nissan’s signature Daytime Running Lights.

Nissan is particularly proud of the Maxima’s “floating” roof appearance which is made possible by blacked-out A-B-and C-pillars, like one of Nissan’s coolest cars, the GT-R.

Available for the SV, and standard on the SR and Platinum models is a dual-panel panoramic moonroof.

The 2022 Maxima offers comfortable seating for up to five occupants and comes equipped with Zero Gravity front seats wrapped in leather or premium Ascot leather in the higher trims.

The Maxima SR and Platinum trims feature standard heated and climate-controlled front seats and steering wheel. The Platinum trim offers heater rear seats for 2022, while the SR trim comes with an upgraded charcoal-colored headliner and pillars.

For easy access to all the controls, the 2022 Maxima features a “Gliding Wing” layout making the front cabin command central that features a center stack angled towards the driver, and a floating console.

Technology

Standard on all models is NissanConnect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Nissan Door to Door Navigation.
