The Nissan Z is back for 2023 after a brief hiatus. The 370Z is out and the new sports car is simply named the Z. It has a sleek design that draws inspiration from the Datsun and Nissan Z models of the past.

Our team at Maus Nissan of North Tampa outlines the trim levels to help you choose the best configuration for you!

Nissan Z Overview

Under the hood, the Z is equipped with a twin turbocharged V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, but a 9-speed automatic with paddle shifters is optional.

The new Nissan Z is available in two trims:

  • The base Sport
  • The more expensive Performance model

The Sport trim is a simple, no-nonsense sports car, but the more expensive Performance models get upgraded brakes, exhaust, and suspension plus some other premium features.

There is also a limited-edition Proto Spec package that includes cosmetic touches like “Ikazuchi Yellow Pearl” exterior paint and yellow brake calipers.

Regardless of trim level, the new Nissan Z is available with three monotone exterior paint options and six two-tone paint schemes.

Monotone options include:

  • Black Diamond Metallic
  • Gun Metallic
  • Rosewood Metallic

Two-tone options include a Super Black roof with:

  • Brilliant Silver
  • Boulder Gray
  • Seiran Blue
  • Ikazuchi Yellow
  • Passion Red TriCoat
  • Everest White Pearl TriCoat

Sport and Performance models also have dual body-colored side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, and the hood, doors, and hatchback are all made from lightweight aluminum.

Let’s take a closer look at the Nissan Z trims and see which is right for you!

  • Independent multi-link rear suspension
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Dual-exit exhaust with chrome tips
  • LED taillights

It comes equipped with ample standard and driver assistance tech features like intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alert.

2023 Nissan Z Performance

Upgrading to the Nissan Z Performance trim unlocks more features that elevate the car’s style, performance, and technology features. It has the same power and torque rating as the Sport trim, but it adds a sportier muffler, sport-tuned suspension, bigger brakes with red calipers, and a limited-slip differential that facilitates the occasional track day.

Styling upgrades include 19-inch Rays wheels, a front chin spoiler, and a rear spoiler. In the cabin, you are treated to aluminum pedals, leather seats with synthetic suede inserts, and heated, power-adjustable seats.

You will also get a 9-inch infotainment system with navigation and a Bose 8-speaker premium audio system. Additionally, it comes with active noise cancellation, a universal garage door opener, and a wi-fi hotspot.

Proto Spec Package

The Proto Spec package is available exclusively on the Performance trim. It is an appearance package that makes the Z look like the Proto concept car that was unveiled in 2020.

It comes with yellow brake calipers, bronze-color alloy wheels, yellow interior stitching, exclusive Proto Spec leather seats with yellow accents, and an exclusive shift knob when equipped with a manual transmission.
