A Guide to The All-New 2023 Pathfinder

Over the years, the Pathfinder has evolved and improved, and it is still the reliable SUV that fans have grown to love. And while the earlier iterations of the Pathfinder were fine, the newest generation for 2023 is easily the best one yet.

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

In 2022, Nissan completely redesigned the Pathfinder bringing it up to date with numerous enhanced features, plus the new Rock Creek trim level. More on that later.

The front end gets the new Nissan grille, the new logo, and the trendy upside-down headlights. The Pathfinder remains boxy with the word PATHFINDER spelled out in big letters right at the center of the tailgate.

Pathfinder Performance

Like other mid-size SUVs on the market, the Pathfinder does not offer an electric version. Under the hood, you will find the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission which offers 248 horsepower which goes up to 295 horsepower in the Rock Creek edition. Both versions offer 254 lb.-ft of torque.

FWD is standard on the Pathfinder and has a generous maximum towing capacity of 6,000 lbs. You can also upgrade to 4WD.

The EPA estimates that the Pathfinder’s gas mileage is around 22 MPG combined.

Pathfinder Comfort & Tech

Nissan worked hard to improve the quality and design of the interior of the new Pathfinder. It is more modern than anything that came before it, with better-quality materials. Nissan has integrated storage cubbies throughout the cabin, including a large bin that sits below the center console that is accessible to the driver or front-seat passenger.

Upper trim levels come decked out with semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

A fully digital gauge cluster is available which is fully configurable and has high resolution. There is also a new infotainment system, and physical HVAC controls.

The infotainment screen is 8.0” on the lower-end trim levels and 9.0” on the higher trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.

Other technologies and convenience features include:

• Wi-Fi hotspot
• 13-speaker Bose sound system
• Captain’s chairs to replace the bench seat in the second row

The 2023 Pathfinder also comes with a large suite of safety systems including:

• Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
• Lane departure warning
• Blind-spot monitoring

Adaptive cruise control is not standard, but ProPilot Assist, offered on higher trim levels, brings a semi-autonomous drive mode on top of adaptive cruise control.

The Pathfinder seats seven passengers and its cargo area gives you 16.6 cubic feet behind the third row and 45 cubic feet behind the second row.

Pathfinder Rock Creek Trim

The new Rock Creek trim offers Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires, a revised suspension, and appearance tweaks including Rock Creek badging all over the exterior and interior. The interior gets leatherette-trimmed seats with cloth inserts, as well as orange Rock Creek logos that are embroidered into the seatbacks. It also comes with 18-inch bead lock-style wheels, a chunkier roof rack, and a modified front fascia.

Four-wheel drive is standard, but it also comes with the same drive modes that are available on the other all-wheel-drive Pathfinders —Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, Mud/Rut, and Tow.
