Nissan Rogue: What’s New for 2023?

Nissan is going through their entire lineup and redesigning its vehicles and making major changes. While some models are just getting updates and a refresh, other models are getting total redesigns.

When it comes to the vehicle that they sell the most of, the Nissan Rogue, what changes are in store? And how does it compete against its rival the Honda CR-V?

A new Midnight Edition package is available on the SV trim for 2023. This appearance package adds black trim, black badging, and black wheels, plus black faux-leather upholstery inside.

Exterior

Exterior changes on the 2023 Nissan Rogue look more aggressive than the Honda CR-V with LED daytime running lamps, and headlights, plus massive corner air curtains. Even though Honda made changes to the 2023 CR-V, the Rogue edges it out of place with its aggressive look.

The V-motion grill on the Rogue pops nicely against any color, plus a forward-facing camera on the Platinum trim.

The 2023 Rogue is front-wheel drive just like the Honda CR-V, but AWD is available for an upgrade.

Engine

The new Nissan Rogue gets a VC-Turbo 1.5-liter three-cylinder that makes 201 horsepower and 225 lb.-ft of torque. This is more horsepower than the Honda CR-V, even though it comes equipped with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Both vehicles come with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). And the Rouge can go from 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. The top speed is 165 mph, and it gets 30 mph in the city as well as 35 on the highway.

Interior

The interior of the Rogue has two-tone door panels with soft-touch materials on top. The bi-level dash also follows this two-tone design. Cloth seating comes standard, but the midrange SV model is upgraded with optional faux-leather upholstery, and the SL and Platinum Rouges get genuine leather.

Both the Rogue and the CR-V have a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and backup cameras, though the resolution is better on the Rogue’s system.

Heated seats and dual-climate control come standard in the Platinum Rogue as well as ambient lighting. Eclectic assist is enabled for both the passenger and driver seats on the Rouge, and it comes with a sunroof as well.

_Towing & Off-Road Capabilities _

The 2023 Rogue and CR-V are evenly matched for their towing capacities. Both have a maximum capacity of 1,500 pounds. Both SUVs offer traction-enhancing all-wheel systems and have ground clearance of up to 8.2 inches for off-roading.

Bottom Line

While both of these vehicles have been fan favorites for years, the 2023 Nissan Rogue edges the Honda CR-V out of the competition with better performance, more thoughtful interior and exterior features, and a more aggressive look.
