• Sales figures for the Honda CR-V in March 2023 were 31,084 vehicles, a 3.81% increase from March 2022.
• Year-to-date sales of the CR-V show a growth of 14.79% with 67,241 vehicles sold, up from 58,579 the previous year.
• Comparatively, the Nissan Rogues’ sales figures defied projections in March 2023 selling 27,177 vehicles from 16,285 in March 2022, representing a 66.88% increase.
• More impressively, the Rogue’s year-to-date sales numbers are 76,499. In fact, the Nissan Rogue has sold 9,258 more vehicles than the Honda CR-V YTD.

What Has Changed?

Examining the SUV market, it is difficult to determine a single reason for this shift in sales. So, what has changed?

The most obvious reason that the Nissan Rogue has overtaken the Honda CR-V could be its outward appearance. The Rogue has recently introduced higher trim packages with attractive features as well as stunning new colors such as Sunset Drift, Caspian Blue, and Scarlet Ember.

Most exciting is the addition of the Midnight Package, adding another level of style and sophistication to an already handsome vehicle.

Another possible factor is that the Honda CR-V has experienced an unfortunate recall.

The recall was due to frame and rear suspension components being rust-prone.

Although the recall affects the 2007-2011 model years exclusively, this setback may have persuaded previous CR-V owners to broaden their search for a new SUV.
