In-Depth Review: 2022 Nissan Murano Platinum

With a quiet cabin and a smooth ride, the 2022 Nissan Murano Platinum model is a formidable contender in the mid-size SUV segment.
Whether you want to get away for the weekend and go camping, or you need a daily driver to get you and the kids where you need to go, the Murano is the SUV to get you there.
Here is our in-depth review of the 2022 Nissan Murano so you can make an informed decision when you go to buy your new SUV!
What’s New for 2022
For 2022, the Murano offers the Midnight Edition package with black exterior accents, 20-inch back wheels, and illuminated door sill protectors.
The only other change for 2022 is that the midrange SV Murano gains heated front seats with faux-leather upholstery.
Performance
The Murano has a 3.5-Liter V6 engine that produces 260 horsepower and 240 lb. per foot of torque, which makes it remarkably comfortable on the road. The Murano drives smoothly and quietly, and the road noise has been dampened that the 2021 model can’t even match. It just keeps getting better!
For inclement weather control, the Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive keeps you safe while on the road, while the fuel economy is consistent at 20 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway.
With a 4-wheel independent suspension system, the Murano offers responsive handling and a smoother ride than other SUVs in its class. Rebound spring and rigid stabilizer bars allow for carving tight corners and soaking up bumps on rough roads.
The speed-sensitive power steering is light at low speeds and firms up when you’re cruising, making for the perfect driving experience!
Cargo Space
The Murano is still equipped with 31.1 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up and 65 cubic feet with the seats down, perfect for grocery runs, trips to the beach, or cross-country road trips.
Traditional Features
If you love some of the features of past vehicles, you won’t be disappointed with the Nissan Murano. With features like a CD player, an analog speedometer, and heated seats that are controlled by knobs, the Murano has a healthy balance between traditional and modern features.
Tech Features
Just because the Murano has largely been unchanged for years doesn’t mean that it doesn’t offer enhanced technology features and amenities in the cabin! With the Around View Monitor, you’ll get a birds-eye view with forward and reverse sensors. The tailgate is motion-activated, which makes it easy to open when your hands are full. Plus, the infotainment system offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Sirius XM Radio, and Nissan’s Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant.
Heated seats come standard in the second row on the Platinum Murano, plus two USB ports for your passengers to charge their devices.
The new Bose audio system is noticeably better than the last iteration and helps in dampening the road noise to make the cabin quiet and serene.
Safety Features
The 2022 Murano also comes equipped with advanced active safety features such as Active Cruise Control whereby the vehicle will either speed up or slow down based on traffic patterns and predetermined speed settings.
Blindspot detection alerts the driver of vehicles that are hanging out in their blind spots, and Autonomous Emergency Braking applies the brakes if an accident is imminent.
The active safety features on the Nissan Murano are top-notch, but so are the passive safety features like airbags and crumple zones. According to the NHTSA, the Murano received five stars in its safety test, and the IIHS awarded the Murano a top safety pick+ for the 2021 model.
The Murano is also a very reliable vehicle and the 2021 model has yet to have any safety recalls.
Finally, the LED headlights that come standard on every Murano trim surpass the optimal rating that the IIHS set forth for headlight safety requirements.
