Key Takeaways of the 2023 Nissan Altima
?
The ever-popular Nissan Altima received a comprehensive makeover for the 2023 model year, complete with new front-end styling, expanded standard safety features, new wheel designs, and two new exterior colors.
Going on sale this fall, the 2023 Nissan Altima offers exceptional value for those looking to buy a new vehicle. Let’s take a look!
What’s New for 2023?
The Altima has been outfitted new wheels, a redesigned front fascia, new LED headlights, and Nissan’s new logo, giving it quite the refresh for 2023. There are also two new paint options, Gray Sky Pearl and Garnet Pearl Metallic, to choose from.
Besides the minor visual tweaks, the top Platinum trim has been renamed the “SL.” The inside of the Altima gets multiple upgrades as well, including a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes standard on the SL and SR models, and is available on the SV.
The Safety Shield 360 driver assistance technology suite has been expanded and the Altima now includes the following as standard features:
- Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Rear automatic braking
- Lane departure warning
- Blind spot warning
- Rear cross traffic alert
- High beam assist
Performance
The Altima comes equipped with a standard 188-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
There is also an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four cycling engine that creates 248 horsepower. It also uses a CVT.
All-wheel drive is available only with the 2.5-liter engine configuration.
Fuel Economy
When equipped with front-wheel drive, the base 2.5-liter engine gets an EPA-estimate 28 mpg in the city and 39 on the highway. With all-wheel drive, this drops slightly to 26 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway. The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine gets 25 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway.
Interior and Comfort
The Altima’s cabin is user-friendly and comfortable. Interior materials vary among trims, but everything has been significantly improved compared to the previous generation Altima. The SV model has attractive appointments and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. It also has soft armrests that make sitting in traffic or cruising more comfortable.
Other interior features include:
- New dual-stitch fabric design on the SR trim only
- Revised instrument panel finish
- Steering wheel with current brand logo
- A 7-inch instrument panel
- Dual-zone climate control
- Zero Gravity seats
- Eight-way power driver’s seat
- A new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on higher trims
- Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity
- Wi-Fi hotspot
- Door-to-door navigation
- Wireless phone-charging pad (SL & SR VC-Turbo)
There is ample legroom in the back of the Altima and the back seats are quite comfortable for passengers. Six carry-on bags can fit in the Altima’s trunk, and 17 carry-on bags can fit in total, once the rear seats are folded.
Technology Features
The Altima’s standard 8.0-inch touchscreen comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, and the infotainment interface has a customizable main menu.
The Altima SL and SR get a 12.3-inch touchscreen equipped with:
