Review Roundup: 2025 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X

September 29th, 2025 by

The midsize truck market is a very competitive segment, and there are new models offering everything from turbocharged engines to EV hybrids, but the 2025 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X stands its ground. It is still a fan favorite as Nissan continues to focus on what many truck buyers want: a powerful V6 engine, rugged styling, and technology-backed value.

Let’s take a closer look with help from our friends at Auto Buyers Guide.

Pricing and Value

One of the best advantages of the Frontier is its affordability. It has become known as one of the most cost-effective midsize trucks on the market, and even when higher trims can cost $50,000, there are many incentives factored in that buyers can take advantage of.

Power and Capability

Under the hood, every 2025 Frontier is equipped with a 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, giving drivers smooth shifting capabilities and a strong first gear for towing.

Speaking of towing, the 2025 Frontier maxes out its capacity of 7,150 pounds with the King Cab in rear-wheel drive, and other configurations can tow between 6,800 and 6,900 pounds. It also has 19 MPG with four wheel drive, and 21 MPG when in rear-wheel drive.

Design and Dimensions

Depending on what buyers are looking for, they can choose between a King Cab or a Crew Cab configuration, and either a five-foot or six-foot bed, depending on the configuration chosen.

The bed of the 2025 Frontier measures 44.5 inches, which is wide enough to carry standard 4×8 plywood sheets when the tailgate is lowered. A full-size spare tire also comes standard.

On the PRO-4X trim, styling gets a bold upgrade with an even more aggressive grille, all-terrain tires, orange-accented details, and LED lighting. Other upgrades include Bilstein dampers, a locking rear differential, and skid plates for added protection when driving off-road.

Interior Comfort and Technology

Inside, the 2025 Frontier has been updated with a larger infotainment screen that is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 360-degree camera system is also available. The PRO-4X trim also offers heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and an optional Fender audio system.

Driving Impressions

Behind the wheel, you can expect that the Frontier PRO-4X will accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 7.5 seconds. Braking performance is strong at 128 feet from 60 mph.
