Sneak Peek: 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder aims to be a minivan replacement, but with its rugged appearance, towing, and off-road capability, it is so much more. The Nissan Pathfinder is getting a comprehensive redesign for 2022, which will allow it to be a formidable contender with other leaders in the three-row-mid-size SUV segment. Let’s look at a sneak peek of what’s in store for the Nissan Pathfinder in 2022!
What’s New for 2022?
The legend has returned! The 2022 Pathfinder is going to have a completely new design with an upgraded rugged and modern look. The new Pathfinder will hit Nissan dealerships during the summer of 2021.
Engine and Performance
The 2022 Pathfinder retains the 284-hp 3.5 liter V-6 from previous years, but it drops the continuous variable transmission in favor of a new upgraded nine-speed automatic. Front-wheel comes standard but all trims can easily be upgraded to all-wheel drive. Upgrading to all-wheel drive also adds a set of seven driving modes at your fingertips, which lets you take on whatever the road throws at you including off-road-focused modes including gravel, sand and mud, or rut modes. The maximum towing capacity of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is 6000 pounds.
Fuel Economy and MPG
While the 2022 Pathfinder’s fuel economy estimates haven’t been released yet, since the Pathfinder is powered by the same V-6 engine that it had in 2020, there shouldn’t be much of a change. You should expect 20 mpg in the city, and 27 mpg on the highway.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
It’s inside the Pathfinder where the most changes are found. A far more modern and truck-like interior replaces the styling of the last generation. It remains a three-row SUV but buyers can now choose to swap the standard second-row bench seat for captain’s chairs.
There are more storage cubbies integrated into the design, including a large bin below the center console that can be accessed by the driver or front-seat passenger.
Upgraded trims come decked out with luxuries such as semi-aniline leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic moonroof.
Infotainment System
An 8.0-inch touchscreen comes standard and is equipped with the latest version of NissanConnect software. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come standard.
The gauge display is 12.3 inches and features an onboard WiFi hotspot, a wireless charging pad, a SiriusXM radio, and an in-dash navigation system.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
All Pathfinders come standard with a host of driver-assistance features including:
- Automated emergency braking
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Lane-departure warning
- Automatic high beam headlamps
- Available adaptive cruise control and semi-autonomous driving mode
ProPilot assist comes standard on SV, SL, and Platinum trims and will automatically adjust to the flow of traffic and keep you centered in your lane. Pro Pilot Assist with Navi-link uses mapping to help you navigate the road ahead, including alerting you of curves, interchanges, junctions, etc.
