Sneak Peek: 2023 Nissan Leaf

As far as electric vehicles go, the Nissan Leaf is the most affordable. For 2023 it is blooming into another model year with a new look and has been pared down from five trims to two from last year.
Our team at Maus Nissan North Tampa gives you a sneak peek into what changes are in store for the 2023 Leaf. We know you’re going to love this one!
What’s New for 2023
The changes for 2023 are mostly cosmetic, and the 2023 Leaf comes with a blacked-out fascia instead of the chrome wings of its 2022 predecessor. The Nissan badge is illuminated up front, and the SV Plus model comes with standard 17-inch wheels with a funky pinwheel design. Less obvious changes to the exterior enhance the Leaf’s aerodynamics.
The interior features new graphics in the instrument cluster, but the biggest changes are to what the Nissan Leaf doesn’t offer anymore: there are only two models available, the Leaf S and the Leaf SV Plus. The SV, S Plus, and SL Plus have been discontinued for the 2023 model year.
Battery and Performance
The base and Plus models of the Leaf are differentiated by battery sizing. The Leaf S has a 40-kWh battery, a 147-hp electric motor, and a driving range of 149 miles. The Leaf SV Plus uses a 60 kWh battery and a 214-hp motor with a driving range of 226 miles. Both models are front-wheel drive.
The 2023 Leaf also continues to use the CHAdeMO charger.
Features
The 2023 Leaf SV Plus comes with sophisticated features including Nissan’s limited hands-free driver-assist system. This system includes adaptive cruise control and active lane control that can help the Leaf come to a complete stop in traffic and then restart and reach the set speed without intervention from the driver.
Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 is a standard feature on every Nissan Leaf and it includes:
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Rear Automatic Braking
- Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
- Blind Spot Warning
- Lane Departure Warning
- High Beam Assist
Safety Features that come standard on every 2023 Leaf include:
- 10 airbags
- Electronic Brake Force Distribution
- Anti-lock braking system
- Tire pressure monitoring system with Easy Fill Tire Alert
- Latch and Snug Kids®
The Leaf’s available Intelligent Around View Monitor helps drivers park with more confidence. It gives you a virtual 360° birds-eye view of the entire vehicle and selectable split-screen close-ups that offer a combination of front, rear, and curbside views. The display also gives drivers a heads-up when the camera system detects moving objects near their Leaf.
Intelligent Mobility Features
If something unexpected happens, the 2023 Leaf has you covered. It offers a suite of available Intelligent Mobility Features that can step in and act when needed.
These features include:
Intelligent Trace Control
This feature allows drivers to effortlessly handle any curves along the road and will brake each wheel individually to help steer smoothly through corners.
Active Ride Control
With Active Ride Control the brakes will be automatically applied and engine torque will be adjusted to smooth out your ride. You won’t even feel the bumps!
Hill Start Assist
If you’re on a steep hill, the Hill Start Assist feature will help your Leaf from rolling backward. It holds equal brake pressure for a few seconds, giving you enough time to switch from the brake to the accelerator.
Intelligent Driver Alertness
This available feature monitors steering patterns and detects if a driver is getting drowsy and needs a break. It alerts you or other drivers with a chime and coffee cup icon on your display to let you know it’s time to take a break!
Driver Awareness
The Nissan Leaf’s available Intelligent Mobility features can detect movement around your vehicle whether you are parked or driving on the road, keeping you and your passengers safe.
Test Drive a 2023 Nissan Leaf
As you can see, the 2023 Nissan Leaf has ample safety and driver assistance features, making it one of the safest EVs not to mention the most affordable) EVs on the market today.
