Sneak Peek: The 2023 Nissan Leaf

Exterior Changes

The 2023 LEAF features a revised front fascia complete with a refreshed grille, bumper molding, and headlights. Plus, there is a new black interior finish!

The Nissan badge is now illuminated and has been updated to reflect Nissan’s new brand identity.

The shape of the tire deflectors, the rear under diffuser, and the rear diffuser have been completely changed to improve aerodynamics. The LEAF also comes with new standard 17-inch 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

The 2023 Nissan LEAF has front and rear wrap-around bumpers, mirrors with electronic controls, folding, heated, and dipped lights, dual-tone wheels, and new colors including red, pearl white, and gray with a contrasting black roof.

Interior Changes

Inside, you will find new Nissan badging on the steering wheel and a new start-up video on the dashboard screen. Black cloth comes standard on SV and SV PLUS models with gloss black finishes. The SL PLUS version has leather upholstery.

Though largely unchanged inside, the enjoyment of the cabin has been enhanced with novel items and standard equipment, including automatic air conditioning, and an intelligent rearview mirror that is activated by moving the window up or down.

The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and can be used to play Spotify, navigate, and answer text messages.

Trim Levels + Battery

The 2023 LEAF is available in the SV and SV PLUS.

The LEAF SV is equipped with a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 110-kW electric motor that creates 147 horsepower and 236-lb-ft of torque.

The SV PLUS features a larger 60 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 160 kW AC Synchronous electric motor, which boosts the output to 214 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft of torque.

Driving Experience

The all-new 2023 LEAF is much more fun to drive than the first-generation, with a smooth and calm driving experience. Since 2018, the LEAF has come equipped with the e-Pedal function, which allows the driver to slow the car by taking some of the pressure off the accelerator. With this feature, you can drive for miles without touching the brake pedal.

Another terrific addition is Nissan’s ProPILOT system, which is a semi-autonomous driving system that allows the vehicle to stop and restart on the highway without any human intervention except by holding the steering wheel.

The Future of the LEAF

Last fall, Nissan confirmed that the LEAF will be discontinued by 2025 and will be replaced by a small SUV. The LEAF was created for the 2011 model year and until March 2020 it was the best-selling electric vehicle in history.

It is a great affordable EV for anyone wanting to step into the electric vehicle revolution.
