The 2023 Nissan Z is Retro Cool

Exterior

The Nissan Z features a long hood and short deck, typical styling cues from sports cars of the past. You can see a bit of the first-generation Z in this seventh-generation Z car, and its taillights were inspired by the Z32 model from the 1990s.

The Z is characterized by a big squared-off grille opening that integrates nicely with the rest of the body. Plus, the 2023 Z will be offered in three monotone paint colors, Black Diamond Metallic, Gun Metallic, and Rosewood Metallic. Aside from these options, six two-tone schemes pair a range of exciting color hues with a black roof.

The available two-tone colors include:

• Boulder Gray
• Serian Blue
• Ikazuchi Yellow
• Passion Red TriCoat
• Everest White Pearl TriCoat

Engine & Transmission

The 2023 Nissan Z offers just one engine option, a smooth 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 which delivers 400 horsepower and 350 lb. per ft of torque.

This added oomph from the previous model allows the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 4 seconds flat.

Drivers can choose between two transmissions, a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, or the standard six-speed manual transmission that comes with an Exedy high-performance clutch and carbon-fiber driveshaft.

Performance

Performance-wise, expect a completely modern powertrain and a retuned chassis that offers better stability and a seamless ride. Drivers can choose from the Sport version or the up-leveled Performance premium offering.

Though the 2023 Z shares the same basic underpinnings as its predecessor, it is 80% new. It comes equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension system that features updated geometry for enhanced straight-line stability.

Further, its larger diameter monotube shocks improve the ride quality on rough or uneven surfaces. A strut tower brace comes standard and larger four-wheel disc brakes with bright red clippers are included with the Performance trim, as well as 19-inch Rays wheels, and Bridgestone Potenza S007 high-performance tires.

Interior Features

The 2023 Nissan Z has a cozy two-seat interior that is offered in three colors including black, red, and a shockingly bright blue. Of course, we are talking about a Z car, so there are some retro touches as well.

On the dashboard, you get three analog gauges, one each for boost, turbo speed, and voltage. Another classic element is the steering wheel, which has a small diameter center section design, just like sports cars of the past. There are also two 12-volt power outlets and a pair of Type A and Type C USB ports installed in the Z. Manual adjustable seats come standard, but with the Performance model, you can opt for power-operated buckets.

What isn’t a blast from the past, however, is the Z’s in-cabin technology. It comes with an 8-inch standard touchscreen, though you can upgrade to a larger 9-inch screen with embedded navigation.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported by the infotainment systems, and there is also a customizable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Finally, a keyless entry with a push-start button and an auto-dimming mirror is included at no extra charge.

Safety Features

The list of standard safety features is robust. It includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, front, and rear parking sensors, and more!
