The 2024 Nissan Versa Video Review- Cheap Done Right post.jpg

With many of its competitors from Kia and Mitsubishi going by the wayside, the 2024 Nissan Versa is one of the last inexpensive base model sedans out there. We aren’t mad about it! It makes sense that the Versa stands the test of time with its exterior style, fuel efficiency, and value-focused features. Plus, it comes in at just below $20,000. You can’t beat that!

Our team at Maus Nissan of North Tampa reviews the Versa with help from our friends at CarBuzz . Let’s get into the review!

What’s New for 2024?

After a large design refresh in 2023, there aren’t many notable changes to the Versa for 2024. Even so, our favorite is the top-of-the-line Versa SR (note: this comes in just above that 20,000 mark) which comes with an amazing amount of standard equipment including an automatic transmission, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Plus, it has:

  • 17-inch wheels
  • A leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • LED headlights
  • Passive entry
  • Remote start

The Convenience Package also has heated seats, but do you really need that in Florida? Maybe on some of the few chilly mornings we have here in Tampa!

Exterior

Let’s start up front. The grille was changed in 2023 with updated styling which includes a black grille with chrome streaks on the edge. Plus, the SR trim gets LEDs while the lower trims get standard halogen lighting.

While the SR trim gets two-tone 17-inch wheels, the other trims get 16-inch steel wheels with the option to upgrade to alloys as well.

The back is largely unchanged from the 2020 iteration, but it does have the new Nissan badge as well as the orange sporty-style trim on the SR model. A tiny bit of flare is added with a lip spoiler on the trunk.

Interior + Technology

Now, let’s take a look inside:

  • In the SR trim, the seats are upgraded to include orange stitching. The lower trims come with standard cloth seats.
  • In the SV trim and above, you’ll get a push-button start.
  • All Versa trims have a 7-inch touchscreen, but the SR has an 8-inch version
  • In the base models, there are 4 audio speakers, while in the SR there are 6
  • A wireless charger is standard in the SV trims and up
  • A USB-C port is standard in the SR in the front and back seat
  • A “driver assist” display is standard in the SV trims and up, the base has normal gauges in its place
  • The interior is largely hard plastic from the door panels to the dash
  • In the SR trim, the seats are 60/40 split for carrying cargo
  • The trunk is very deep and wide with 15 cubic feet of cargo space

Given the price of the Versa, we are stunned by the amount of features even the base model includes!

Performance

Every Versa is powered by a 122-hp four-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the base model, while the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard in all other trims (you can get it as an upgrade in the base S model too.)

The Versa is rated up to 32 mpg in the city and 40 on the highway when equipped with the CVT. The manual version of the Versa offers an estimated 27 mpg or 35 on the highway.

Safety Features

It’s amazing to see how many safety features are included in the Versa depending on the trim, including:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking With Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Blind-Spot Warning
  • Rear Automatic Braking
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • High Beam Assist
  • Intelligent Cruise Control
  • Intelligent Driver Alertness

Note: Some of these features are found only on the higher trims, so be sure to ask if you want those features.
