Sleek and Affordable 2022 Nissan Kicks SR

The Kicks subcompact SUV was introduced to the market in 2018 by Nissan and was designed to replace the Versa. With its low starting price, small size, and impressive standard feature list, it has grown to be of the most popular vehicles in the Nissan lineup.

Powertrain

The 2022 Nissan Kicks SR has a 1.6 L 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 lb.-ft of torque. It also has a standard automatic CVT transmission that has a Sport setting to mimic manual transmission shifting. If you are looking for a crossover SUV with great gas mileage, the Kicks SR will not disappoint with 31 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway.

The Kicks is only available in a front-wheel-drive configuration.

Exterior

When you approach the front fascia of the Nissan Kicks SR, you can tell that Nissan has upgraded their design language on the vehicle with a larger V-Motion Grille enhanced by additional chrome accents. If you want full LED headlights including LED turn signals, high beams, and fog lights, the SR trim is the trim to choose. Every other trim has halogen headlights.

Though it is a replacement for the Nissan Versa hatchback, it sits taller than the Versa with seven inches of ground clearance and a higher ceiling inside. Plus, a two-tone paint job really makes the Kicks pop!

You can upgrade to black-finished wheels for a sportier look, and the Kicks SR is only offered in front-wheel drive. For easy parking, the Kicks SR is equipped with parking sensors in the rear and a standard 360-degree camera.

Though it doesn’t come with a power liftgate, this small crossover offers ample cargo space with 25 cubic feet of room to store groceries, sports gear, and more.

Interior

As you open the door to the newly designed Nissan Kicks SR, you’ll be greeted by a streamlined faux leather two-tone interior complete with contrasting trim stitching. It also has 6-way manual heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

The step-in is a little lower than larger crossover SUVs but once inside, you’ll be greeted by an appealing and modern interior. Improvements to the technology in the Kicks SR include a stop/start button next to the shifter as well as a digital and analog display. The steering wheel is a leather-wrapped D-cut flat-bottomed wheel in the SR trim with manual tilt and telescoping.

The Kicks SR comes with an 8-inch Nissan Connect Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play as standard features. The infotainment system is very responsive and snappy and is easy to use. It is also equipped with a Bose stereo system and a remote start key fob.

A notable feature is the ambient lighting setting that allows you to choose from 7 different ambient lighting colors to set the mood when you’re out on the road.

The two-tone interior carries over to the back seats where the Kicks SR offers 33.5 inches of legroom which is at the top of its class. There are also two USB ports to charge devices in the backseat.
