What We Know About The Maxima’s 2025 Successor

After eight model generations, the Nissan Maxima is set for a massive overhaul by 2025. According to Nissan, the Maxima will wrap up its final production year in 2023. However, the extremely popular four-door sports car will not be headed to the trash heap!
Although the vehicle that reemerges in 2025 will be different in many ways, we expect the future rendition of the Maxima to retain its popular defining qualities as the model’s namesake shifts to become an American-centered all-electric vehicle.
Our team at Maus Nissan of North Tampa shares what we know!
What’s New for 2025?
After taking a year off to reshuffle the lineup, Nissan plans to release the all-electric Maxima in 2025, with production in Canton Ohio.
The next-generation Maxima will be an entirely new model when it comes to the 2025 model year. Besides keeping four doors nearly everything about the maxima will change. Being based on the exquisite 2019 Nissan IMs concept, many can see the potential in the future of what Nissan is describing as an “elevated sports sedan.”
Featuring very thin wrap-around line lights and sharp angles, Nissan promises an epic redesign that is sure to excite fans of the model line.
EV Motor Power and Performance
What we do know is that the Nissan Maxima will share the company’s CMF-EV platform, which is currently common to Mitsubishi and Renault and provides the base platform for the popular Nissan Aria. Although we do not know the planned configuration for the newest Maxima, we can guess that they may use similar components to make up the Maxima trim and performance lineup.
As with the Nissan Ariya, the entry-level powertrain consists of a single front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 214 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, it’s likely that Nissan will offer its more powerful all-wheel drive electric motor, upping the horsepower to 389. Fingers crossed!
Pricing
Although Specific pricing and performance information has not yet been revealed we will speculate that the 2025 Nissan Maxima will follow the Performance and trim packages of the Nissan Aria EV.
Model Names
As the Maxima transforms from an internal combustion engine to an all-electric vehicle, it is likely that trim levels will no longer be known by letter badges (e.g., SV, SR) but instead by new designations like “Evolve” and “Engage” with enhanced models adding a “+” to the trim description.
Lower trim levels will likely start out with a smaller battery and decreased range to offer the base affordability that has been traditionally offered by the Maxima line, with higher trim packages offering more advanced performance and range.
