Nissan’s Plan For 2026: 7 New Models And More
In an ambitious three-year plan that will see the introduction of seven new models, Nissan is not only aiming to refresh its existing lineup but also strike a balance between electric and gas-powered vehicles. Plus, they plan to refresh 78% of their current lineup by 2026.
Our team at Maus Nissan of North Tampa couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come. Let’s take a look at what is on the horizon!
What is Nissan’s 3-Year Plan?
With plans to introduce seven new models in North America alone, Nissan is prepared to revamp their current offerings and add more electric vehicles to the mix.
Though Nissan has not yet revealed the powertrains that will be included in these new vehicles, we know that some will be electric, and we’ve also heard talk of plug-in-hybrid models with a system called e-Power. This would include a gas engine that acts as a “generator” that powers the electric motors.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, Nisan plans to launch a total of 30 new models worldwide, with 16 electric models and 14 with gas-powered engines. They plan to have EVs account for 40% of their global sales by 2026, and 30% by 2030.
Reduced EV Pricing
To get to their goal of having their lineup be mostly electric, Nissan also has a plan to reduce their EV prices. They aim to cut overall costs by 30%.
They plan to do so by:
- A more robust electrification effort
- Sharing developmental costs
- New engineering and manufacturing approaches
- Strategic partnerships in technology, product portfolio, and software services
This new kind of production is planned to start in 2027.
EV Batteries
In 2021, Nissan had plans to pursue “all-solid-state” EV batteries by 2028, but it seems as though their strategy has slightly changed. Now, they plan to produce vehicles with “enhanced NCM li-ion, LFP and all-solid-state batteries,” by that same deadline.

New Technology
Nissan also has plans to accelerate the enhancements of their vehicle intelligence technologies such as their ProPILOT driver-assistance system, which could in the future have door-to-door autonomous driving from driving on the highway, off the highway, to parking.
Strategic Partnerships
Nissan will also take advantage of strategic partnerships worldwide to offer a portfolio of upgraded products and technology.
Some of these partnerships include:
- Renault and Mitsubishi Motors in Europe, LATAM, ASEAN, India
- New partnerships in the United States and Japan for EV batteries
It’s exciting to learn about what’s in store for the future of Nissan’s lineup. Are you as excited as we are?
