Why The 2024 Nissan Leaf Is The Best Deal in EVs

Why The 2024 Nissan Leaf Is The Best Deal in EVs
If you’re in the market for an electric vehicle you’ve likely heard of the Nissan Leaf. It has been on the market since December 2010 and it has been a favorite due to its compact exterior and budget-friendly cost.
Our team at Maus Nissan of North Tampa shares why the 2024 Nissan Leaf is still one of the best deals in the EV market today!
Key Takeaways:
- Starting at $29,280, with federal EV tax credits, that price drops to around $26,000.
- The Leaf has a partial federal tax incentive of $3750 since its battery components meet the U.S. Government’s new standards.
- The Nissan Leaf has held the title of cheapest new EV for years and undercuts many other budget-friendly makers in the market.
Federal Tax Credit Eligibility
To come in under $30,000 is no feat in our current market, but the Leaf continues to be a budget-friendly best-seller for many buyers.
There is a caveat though. To be eligible for the new $3750 tax rebate, the Leaf must have been built in 2024 and be bought after March 6th. To get the discount, the buyer must also meet the requirements of the Inflation Reduction Act.
The Leaf is one of only ten electric vehicles that are currently eligible for the federal tax credit, even if it’s half of what it used to be eligible for!

The Competition
So, after the federal tax credit, the 2024 Nissan Leaf can come in at just $25,530. That price is considerably less than many competitors on the market that claim to be more budget-friendly.
It is still cheaper than:
- 2024 Mini Cooper SE $31,895 (not eligible for tax credits)
- Chevy Bolt EV was discontinued in 2023 (unsold 2023 models qualify for the full $7500 tax rebate)
- 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric $34,050 (not eligible for tax credits)
- Fiat 500e $34,095 (tax credit eligibility unknown)
And if you’re wondering where the Tesla Model 3 stacks up, well it comes in at $41,000, but only the more expensive Performance model which comes in at $55,000 is eligible for the full $7500 tax credit.
Why We Love the Leaf
If the price isn’t sealing the deal for you we think these features will!
#1. All-Electric Engine
The base model Leaf S comes with a 147-horsepower electric motor paired with a 40.0 kWh battery pack.
The SV Plus is equipped with a 214-horsepower electric motor and a 62.0 kWh battery.
Whichever model you choose will have you driving in style with a smooth quiet acceleration that only a No-emission vehicle like the Leaf can provide.
#2. Spacious Cabin
Would you be surprised if we told you that the Leaf offers seating for five adults? It’s true! The rear seats offer ample legroom, and the front seats are comfortable for longer car rides. Plus, the Leaf offers 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. But if the seats are folded, that number jumps to 30 cubic feet. Nice!
#3. Technology
Though this a budget-friendly EV, it doesn’t skimp on technology features! It comes with:
- Apple Car Play & Android Auto
- 8-inch touchscreen
- Customizable digital cluster display
- Six-speaker audio system
With the NissanConnect EV app, you can remotely control the climate features, lock and unlock doors, and get info on the range and charging info.
